Chinese Scooter Industry

The Chinese auto, including scooter industry, is currently heavily controlled, with foreign companies not able to own more then 50% of any Chinese firm. However, with the expected liberalisation of the automotive market within China and a reduction of the control seen over foreign companies in this sector, including Chinese scooter and bike manufacture, there may be many more Chinese scooter manufacturers in the near future both from domestic growth and foreign investment.. This growth will result in even more demand for companies to provide Chinese scooter insurance in the United Kingdom.

Many of the Chinese scooters that we are able to provide scooter insurance for have a name that shows their Chinese origins. For example the Zongshen Industrial Group (manufacturers of the Zongshen brand of bikes) has its roots in the Chongqing municipality of central China, and derives its name from the larger Zhongshan town in the South-East of the country. The Zongshen motor company has grown since its inception in 1992 to a company capable of producing over two million motorcycles a year, along with other motorised vehicles, and now has international agreements with the more familiar brands of Harley Davidson and Piaggio. Like many companies that have grown recently in what is now the world's fastest growing economy and world's biggest exporter of goods (having recently recently overtaken Germany, and predicted surpassing of the entire European Union in the near future), the Zongshen motor company has been able to mix the traditional Chinese values with more international ideas to achieve its incredible growth. This mix has allowed it to become one of China's leading bike manufacturers and exporters, many of which arrive in the United Kingdom, where Rampdale is able to provide scooter insurance for the full range of scooters and motorcycles the group produce. The ability to replicate the look and feel of these more traditional brands, through international agreements whilst also minimising costs by taking advantage of their position in China provides a mix of familiar quality (all imported bikes in the European Union come with a European issued Certificate of Conformity) at a price which is considerably less than the mainstream names. Due to their unfamiliarity many insurance companies have overlooked the large surge in imports, however Rampdale are equipped to provide scooter insurance for the range of Zongshen bikes.

Another company that has also seen a similar growth is Baotian (fully the Jiangmen Sino-HongKong Baotian Motorcycle Industrial Co.). They too have grown from a small start in 1994 to be one of the leading exporters of Chinese scooters particularly for the European and South American market. They now produce bikes purely for the export market. The company prides itself on the principle of "People first, honesty first, customer first", and this has allowed them to become the third biggest seller of 50cc scooters in the UK since 2007 relying on their quality and commitment to their principles. As with the Zongshen scooters, they not only provide a very real alternative, at a reduced end price, to the market but also provide unique designs and innovations which contribute to their large growth in a short time.

This growth in market share seen in the by the Zongshen and Baotian brands is also visible in many other Chinese scooter producing and importing groups including Direct Bikes, Giantco, Guangzhou Dayang, Hongou, Jinlun, Jonway, Superbyke, Yiying. Rampdale is at the forefront providing of Chinese scooter insurance. Each one has something very unique to offer the consumer which make them highly desirable, while offering them at very reasonable prices. Many of the Chinese scooter companies are based in the main industrial areas of China (Peking, River Yangtze delta and River Pearl delta incorporating Hong Kong), however as shown by the Zongshen company, scooter manufacture is no longer limited to these traditional production heartlands. And with the increasing desire of China to become the dominate player in the world export markets we can expect many more Chinese scooter manufacturers to become active in the British market, for which there will be an increasing call for Chinese scooter insurance. Also shown is a keen interest of non-Chinese companies to become involved in the Chinese market to use its unparalleled resources and potential.
